About Us

Our mission

The Oconee Parks Foundation is a volunteer-led nonprofit organization promoting investment in park facilities and recreation programs.

Our history

Oconee County GA was recently ranked #1 on Nich's 2020 "Best Counties for Families in America" list. From 2010 to 2020, Oconee County's population has grown from 32,808 to 41,799, a 27.4% overall increase that far outpaces the entire state of Georgia's 10.6% growth in the same duration. As the community continues to grow exponentially, so does the number of individuals and children utilizing county parks and recreation services in the area.
Oconee County has over 600 acres of parkland to enjoy. Park amenities include ball fields, tennis courts, picnic shelters, playgrounds, walking paths, trails, a Community Center, disc golf course, meeting rooms, an outdoor volleyball court, and more. Oconee Parks Foundation will assist and benefit the Oconee County Parks and Recreation Department by serving as an outlet for citizens' passion for the park's mission while providing volunteer services, assisting with resource management and preservation, conducting fundraising efforts, and educating the community on critical issues.
Each year, hundreds of residents seek to help the county's parks, natural areas, trails, playgrounds, and athletic and recreational facilities/programs flourish through individual volunteerism. Alongside the Oconee County Parks and Recreation Department, Oconee Parks Foundation and its supporters will strive to enrich and improve the parks and recreation facilities and quality educational programs.
